Scientific Selection of Lubricants: Not All Oils Are Suitable

Dec 24, 2025 Leave a message

In the daily operation of heavy construction machinery such as concrete Concrete Laser Leveling Machine machines, fuel costs and labor expenses are often considered explicit expenditures, while the value of a scientific and precise lubrication management system is easily underestimated. In fact, lubricants are the "blood" of equipment; the standardization of their selection, use, and replacement directly determines the lifespan, failure rate, and overall operating efficiency of the equipment's core components. As a technology-driven company deeply rooted in the industry, Hua'ang Machinery is committed to conveying this key understanding to its customers: proper lubrication is not a cost, but a core investment that ensures a return on investment.

Using substandard, inferior, or expired lubricants may seem economical in the short term, but in the long run, it will trigger a series of chain reactions: abnormal engine wear, decreased precision and internal leakage in the hydraulic system, premature bearing failure, chain jamming… These not only lead to soaring maintenance costs and construction delays, but also directly affect the final precision and quality of the floor screed. Especially in high-load, high-dust, and large-temperature-difference construction environments, the performance of lubricants faces even more stringent challenges.

Improper Lubrication: A Hidden Cost Pit and Performance Killer

Using substandard, inferior, or expired lubricants may seem economical in the short term, but in the long run, it will trigger a series of chain reactions: abnormal engine wear, decreased precision and internal leakage in the hydraulic system, premature bearing failure, chain jamming… These not only lead to soaring maintenance costs and construction delays, but also directly affect the final precision and quality of the floor leveling. Especially in high-load, high-dust, and large-temperature-difference construction environments, the performance of lubricants faces even more stringent challenges.

Hua'ang Machinery Explains the Core Points of the Four Lubrication Systems for Laser Screw Machines

Based on a deep understanding of the equipment's operating mechanism and massive amounts of field data feedback, Hua'ang Machinery has planned a clear lubrication spectrum for the equipment, with each type of oil playing an irreplaceable role.

1. Engine Oil: The Guardian of the Power Heart

The engine is the heart of the equipment, and engine oil is the guarantee of its smooth operation. Hua'ang Machinery strictly stipulates that only four-stroke engine oil that meets or exceeds API standard SE grade must be used. We recommend users make it a habit to check the API label on the oil can before filling. For common operating temperatures (-15℃ to 40℃), high-quality multi-grade diesel engine oils such as Mobil Delvac 15W-40 provide excellent high and low temperature protection and cleaning performance. It is particularly important to note that the first oil change should be performed after 100 hours of operation; subsequent regular changes are crucial for removing worn metal particles from inside the engine and maintaining power.

2. Hydraulic Oil: The Lifeline of Precision Systems

The hydraulic system drives every precise movement of the leveling machine. Therefore, hydraulic oil must possess excellent anti-wear, anti-oxidation, anti-rust, and anti-foaming properties. Huaang Machinery recommends using L-HM46 anti-wear hydraulic oil for all its equipment. To facilitate global procurement, we provide clear brand comparison guidelines, such as Mobil DTE 25, Shell Tellus Oil 46, and Caltex Rando Oil HD46, all of which are suitable options. Changing hydraulic oil is a rigorous "systematic project". It is essential to drain the oil after the oil temperature has risen and to thoroughly clean the oil tank using professional methods such as "wiping with a cloth and removing dough" to ensure that the new oil is not contaminated.

3. Gear Lubricating Oil: The Guarantee of Transmission Mechanisms

For gear transmission components such as speed reducers, lubricating oil with good anti-wear and load-bearing capacity is required. Hua'ang Machinery recommends using L-AN68 total loss system oil or a higher grade of machine oil. Regularly checking and changing the speed reducer lubricating oil can effectively prevent gear pitting and wear, ensuring smooth and efficient power transmission.

4. Grease: The Armor of Moving Joints

Grease plays a role in sealing, rust prevention, and long-lasting lubrication at chain, bearing, and joint connections. Hua'ang Machinery equipment is pre-applied with Mobil XHP222 composite high-temperature grease, whose wide temperature adaptability and strong adhesion can cope with extreme working conditions on the construction site. Users should establish a regular refill system, especially before and after each high-intensity use, to replenish key friction points such as joint bearings and auger end bearing seats to form a continuous protective film.

Professional Lubrication Operation: Details Determine Results

Proper lubrication is not only about "choosing the right oil," but also about "using the right method." Hua'ang Machinery emphasizes the following in its maintenance guide:

Oil Level Check: This must be performed after the equipment is parked on a level surface and the engine has been turned off for several minutes to ensure accurate readings.

Oil Change Timing: Change the oil when the engine or hydraulic system is warm; this allows for better flow and more thorough drainage.

Concrete Adhesion Prevention: Applying used engine oil to parts such as the auger and leveling plate is a low-cost, high-efficiency protective measure that significantly reduces concrete hardening and adhesion, saving cleaning time and equipment wear.
